What an honour! I not only was the very first interview for the Inquisitive Meeple over a year ago, but I’ve been asked back to be the 100th interview for the site. This is one meaty interview that goes into detail about my design process, rule books recommendations and upcoming projects! Check out this formidable interview!
That’s right – you might not even have the base game yet (but if you do – yay! Let us know your thoughts!) – but we’ve already got some expansions coming your way. The first is called That’s The Best Part, and I have to say, it really is the best part! It’s one of my favourite things about the game!
Here’s how it works: After someone pitches a product with their two features (one that came in halfway through after stating But Wait There’s More!) – it’s opened to questions from the audience. The player to your right then asks you a question from one of their That’s The Best Part cards. The question could be something like “What if it gives me a rash” or “What if I accidentally flush it down the toilet?” and the person pitching has to respond with “Oh…that’s the best part…” and go one to explain why this product giving you a rash is the BEST part! I laugh every time I hear it!
Check out the Toy Vault website for more info on this $4.99 expansion. It should be available in a month or so!! Awesome!
It’s a privilege to be reviewed by the oh-so-opinionated reviewers known as Opinionated Gamers! Due to an oversight we actually got two reviews by them – and both reviewers liked the game – huzzah! You can read the whole thing here and the second review here, but here are a few quotes from both reviews that I liked:
“The map building is fun, and there is a lot of thought that needs to be given when placing tiles”
“it does give different viable scoring options”
“Overall, Akrotiri is an enjoyable and challenging 2P game”
“it’s a nice meaty game that I’ve enjoyed playing”
“I find Akrotiri to be a nice relatively meaty two player game”
I really like the format of this play through. He edits it down and removes all the unnecessary parts and shows just the actual meaningful bits! Also, Jon Gets Games narrates why he’s doing things as he’s doing them so that you get a full understanding of the rules as he’s playing. I love it and want to see more videos like this – great idea!!
This review was posted awhile ago – but he has tweaked it so much and added so many more photos that I thought I’d share it again. His enthusiasm for the expansion is fantastic! I’m really proud of that expansion because it really feels like we added something new to the game – without bogging it down or making it more complicated. Great review Mark!
Another positive review for But Wait There’s More! So great that people are enjoying our newest party game. It should be hitting retail shelves very soon, so keep an eye out – or request your local game store to order a copy or 12…!
Nice to see our game from Queen Games getting some love still! A new review popped up on Boardgamegeek.com from Tom – one of its users. Check it out here!
Some nice comments from the review:
“Tortuga is a fun pirate-themed game”
“Tortuga is a smart game with little to no down time between your turns”
“There are a lot of quick decisions to make and they mostly depend on what your opponents are doing.”
Rahdo has established himself as an important voice in the board gaming community. I think it’s because of his passion that comes through in his videos. It’s obvious that he loves board games! Also he produces a lot of content! If you’re thinking about picking up a game, definitely check to see if Rahdo has played it!
His most recent video is about Akrotiri! He does a 30 minute set up and play through of the first couple of rounds. He makes a couple of goofs, but you’ll see annotations popup that will correct them.
Then there’s a video for the rest of the gameplay so you can see the whole game unfold.
Finally, Rahdo gives his final thoughts. Some of my favourite quotes from Rahdo are:
“Jen and I enjoy that a lot”
“This game really works well”
“There’s a surprising amount to think about”
“It’s fun, it’s fast, it’s exciting!”
“The mosaic of this board as it expands is just a delight”
This is awesome – Tom Vasel reviews our new party game – and loves it! Spoiler alert – he gives it his Seal of Excellence rating, which means the game will stay in his collection! It’s his highest rating he gives. Huzzah!!!!
Also, Botch Games has recorded another session of them playing the game and you can hear their hilarious pitches here! Thanks everyone!!!
