*pew pew!*

Check this out!  What an awesome trophy!  It would look absolutely stunning on my mantle and guess what?  Jay and I could win one!

To our surprise yesterday, a friend notified us that we were nominated for this strange award – The Geekie – for Best Tabletop Game.   Only in it’s second year, the Geekies are to be held annually in Hollywood, CA, every August.  The Geekies celebrate all that is great and good in geekdom in the following categories:

  • Arts & Crafts
  • Comics & Graphic Novels
  • Cosplay
  • Fashion & Armor
  • Personality
  • Podcasts & Blogs
  • Short Films
  • Tabletop Games
  • Trailers & Vidoes
  • Video Games
  • Web Series

So, Belfort is up against 19 other games – you can check out the list of contenders and see who we’re up against.  I think we stand a good chance of taking that badassed blue blaster home with us… Fingers crossed!

Whether we win or lose, I really like the concept of this award – the Core Concepts are brilliant:

  1. Rising Creators Need Recognition
  2. Authenticity and Integrity Without Compromise
  3. Work with the Best of the Best
  4. Innovate and Adapt to a Changing Industry
  5. Informed Risk-Taking Leads to Success
  6. Powerful Moments Inspire the World

Reading that fills me with an awesome sense of pride in what I do, what I create, and what I contribute; my work is art and art is necessary to elevate the human condition about basic sustenance.  To quote their webpage, “The Geekie Awards cultivates moments that inspire creation, achievement and hard work, and bring our culture together with pride.”

Amen, brother, amen!
